Lead Paediatric Nurse Educator

Main purpose of the role:

The primary focus of the Lead Paediatric Nurse Educator position is to support the University of Sierra Leone Teaching Hospital Complex - Ola During Children’s Hospital to improve patient safety and particularly outcomes for children by increasing both the volume and the quality of Continuing Professional Development among nursing staff. This will be achieved through the staged introduction of CPD modules, whilst also contributing to the development of mechanisms to strengthen the health system and embed a learning environment.This exciting position would suit an experienced Paediatric Nurse with who will divide his/her time between supporting the coordination, design, implementation and quality assurance of clinical education through Continuing Professional Development, systems strengthening and engagement in Quality Improvement activities.

He/she will support and mentor ODCH’s Head of Nurse Training, helping to ensure the continuous implementation of high quality in-service training for nurses and supporting the MoHS to drive the development of a nationally recognised accredited postgraduate training programme in paediatric nursing. 

The post holder will also support the Paediatric Oncology programme, which is run in partnership between ODCH and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Main purpose of the role:

Welbodi Partnership is looking to expand, and so the primary focus for the Intern will be fundraising. The Intern will focus on 2 main areas of fundraising, small foundations and trusts (identifying opportunities and proposal-writing) and in-country events and social media. Dependent on background and experience, there may also be an opportunity for the Intern to be involved in the scoping and design of new programmes alongside the Hospital Teams, and to contribute to grant writing for large and/or government donors.

Role and responsibilities
·       Proposal and report writing
·       Manage small grants database
